Automated Parking Garages

Faster, More Convenient Garages are Here

Parking Garage Improvements

Parking in Birmingham is now a lot easier, thanks to new and fully automated, self-serve pay stations recently integrated in downtown parking garages. The new system offers a faster, more convenient way for you to use and exit the garages.

You'll enjoy many benefits from the automated system, such as:

  • More payment options (major credit and debit cards are accepted)
  • Smaller lines and waiting time
  • Additional locations for payment, including the option to use brand new pay-on-foot pay stations. The stations, located in the stairwells and exits of the garages, offer customers the option of paying before returning to their vehicles.
  • Improved security (each pay station features intercoms for questions or emergencies)

2 hrs free parking Worried about increased rates? Don’t be!
These enhancements are offered at no
additional charge in the foreseeable future.
As always, the first two hours of parking
are free in all garages.

Businesses
For businesses who are already validation customers, or those who are interested in learning how to validate customers’ parking expenses, please note that the parking garage improvements will affect the way you provide a pre-paid coupon or validate a parking ticket. Additionally, these changes will affect how your customer will redeem the validation value for their parking. To help you understand how the process will be modified in the coming months, we ask that you use the following links to familiarize yourself with two options for validating parking: 1) Pre-Paid Coupons, and 2) Encoder Validation.

GENERAL PARKING TIPS
Deck parking is easy, convenient and much less expensive than metered street parking and there are not time limits. The first 2 hours are free, and parking is always free on Sundays.

  • Parking decks are well lit and have public telephones.
  • The parking decks are handicap accessible with elevators.
  • Take advantage of one of Birmingham’s 1,200 meters for quick visits or one-stop shopping.  If you plan on staying in town for any length of time, a parking deck is always a better choice.
