In addition to the required city license for your dog, section 14a of Act 339 of 1919 (The Dog Law), provides for two options to register your dog’s microchip or tattoo identification:

    Dog 2
  • The availability of microchip implantation and registration for dogs by a licensed veterinarian, an animal control shelter, or an animal protection shelter. Individuals interested in additional information on microchip, contact your local veterinarian or animal control shelter.
  • The availability of a statewide tattoo identification registry for dogs maintained by the state department of agriculture. Individuals interested in having their dog tattooed should contact Tina Moreno at 517.241.2748 to locate an individual approved by the department to tattoo dogs in their area.
  • Please note: A city license is required regardless of whether your pet is microchipped or tattooed.
